Spring Storm Brings Snow, Whipping Winds To Armonk

Area residents woke up to whipping winds and a round of snow Sunday that left anywhere from a trace to close to 2 inches in some spots.

The steady snow ended by 7:30 a.m., but the high winds will continue followed by another round of snow that is likely Sunday night into Monday morning, especially in areas around the I-84 corridor.

A high wind warning is in effect until 2 p.m. Sunday with the National Weather Service warning of the potential of downed trees and power lines. Several scattered outages in the area.

A freeze warning is in effect from 8 p.m. Sunday until 10 a.m. Monday. The freezing temps will kill sensitive plants if not protected and brought indoors, the National Weather Service warns.

After a slight chance of snow showers through noon Sunday, the rest of the day will be partly sunny, with a in the mid 30s and wind-chill values between 15 and 25. Northwest winds will be between 34 to 40 mph decreasing to 28 to 33 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph.

Overnight lows will be around 30 with a chance of snow after 2 a.m. Monday.

Most of the area will see rain, possibly mixed with snow and freezing rain before 8 a.m., followed by rain after 8 a.m. Monday's high temperature will reach the mid 40s.

Rain is likely Monday night, possibly mixed with snow before 8 p.m, followed by a chance of snow. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
