PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. – This Saturday, April 30, Pace University will host the grand opening of the new Ianniello Field House, as well as the re-dedication of Peter X. Finnerty Field and the Fred Calaicone Dugout dedication.
The Ianniello Field House grand opening will be a celebration of the generosity of Pace Trustee and football alumnus Joseph Ianniello '90. The Ianniello Field House is a 14,010 square-foot facility that includes a strength and conditioning center, VIP room, locker rooms and a sports medicine component, and is located behind the south end zone of Pace Stadium. Ianniello, the Chief Operating Officer at the CBS Corporation, made a $2 million commitment for the construction of the new Field House in April 2015.
The newly renovated Peter X. Finnerty Field, which includes field turf, two enclosed dugouts, a new press box located behind home plate, seating located in front of the press box, and lights, opened before the fall semester, and serves as the home field for the Pace baseball and field hockey teams.

Finnerty was also the first Pace Baseball Head Coach, as he served in this role from 1948-1960. He also coached the men's basketball team from 1948-1964. The field was originally dedicated in his honor on Sept. 9, 1989.
The Pace Department of Athletics will also be retiring Calaicone's number 30 during the event. Calaicone served as the baseball program's head coach for 20 seasons from 1981-2000. He was inducted in the Pace Athletics Hall of Fame in 2002 and his 1985 Baseball Team was the Team of Distinction recipient at the 2015 Hall of Fame ceremony this past spring.
