Yorktown Students Gear Up For MLK Day

YORKTOWN, N.Y. – With Martin Luther King Day coming up, students at Crompond Elementary School in Yonkers participated in projects honoring King's core beliefs.

For example, fourth-graders in Cari Byrnes' class were tasked with finding inspiring quotes from not just King, but also Nelson Mandela and Mother Theresa so they could make posters for their fellow students.

Students in Barbara Ruckstahl's class also participated by trying to find examples of peaceful strength, a basic belief King had all his life.
