Seniors voted 97-44 to keep the June 8 prom at the golf club owned by the 45th President of the United States.

The prom was booked in Feb. 2016, by a group of parents, faculty, and students, before Donald Trump became president. A nonrefundable deposit of $4,000 -- money raised by both students and parents -- was put down when the prom was booked.

Students had expressed concern about holding the prom at a Trump venue after his executive order restricting travel from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Students decided to vote on whether to move the prom to a politically neutral location, wanting to make sure everyone felt comfortable attending.

"I'm really glad we allowed the students to have a respectful dialogue about this," Angela Vella, president of the Pleasantville Board of Education, said. "They listened to all the facts, they cast their vote and they have spoken. I support their decision."

With the votes counted, Vella said she hopes the class can be unified and that everyone decides to go to the prom.

"I would hate for anyone to miss out on this celebration because of their political views," Vella said. "I want them to enjoy this capstone event in their lives. I'd like to put this behind us."

In addition to Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor, Trump owns the $19.5 million Seven Springs estate in Bedford and Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
