Byram Hills Education Foundation Funds 10 Grants

ARMONK, N.Y. -- The Byram Hills Education Foundation awarded ten grants totaling $324,604 in 2015-16 to fund state-of-the-art programs and technologies for the district's four schools.

"We thank everyone in our community who has generously supported the Byram Hills Education Foundation this year and in years past," said Jason Berland, foundation chairman. "The Foundation remains committed to helping the Byram Hills School District deliver an outstanding educational experience, and the parents and businesses who have contributed to the Foundation are instrumental partners in this continued effort to enhance our local schools. This year's grants exemplify our mission of funding innovative initiatives that will ensure our local schools continue to be in a position to create 21st Century leaders."

These are the four Signature Grants:

  • Full STEAM Ahead!: district-wide grant of $90,495 to expand and accelerate implementation of the STEAM Initiative
  • The 21st Century Classroom Pilot Project: $16,730 to convert one sixth grade classroom into a "learning studio" for 21st century learning at H.C. Crittenden Middle School
  • The 21st Century Classroom Pilot Project: $52,480 to transition seven classrooms based on 21st century learning model needs at Byram Hills High School
  • STEAM Labs – Rethinking Learning Labs: $156,000 to renovate four technology labs at H.C. Crittenden and BHHS

  • Noise Canceling Headphones (Byram Hills High School: $275)
  • Bobcat Buddies (Coman Hill: $1,847)
  • Everyone Matters Book Bank! (Coman Hill: $2,348)
  • Fun with Phonics (Coman Hill: $1,371)
  • Discovery through Performance with The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Co. (H.C. Crittenden: $1,925)
  • Logitech HD Pro Webcam (Wampus: $1,133)
