Plein Air Revisited: A Study in Diverse Observations opens with a reception from 6-8 p.m. on June 3 at the Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave. The exhibit will feature 14 different artists from June 3 through Aug. 28.

“In this exhibition I present a diverse group of Connecticut artists, both in age and in methodology,” said curator Nancy McTague-Stock BFA, MFA in a statement. “The face of Plein Air is evolving and this exhibition seeks to introduce the viewer to these current observations.”

Plein Air, French for “in the open air,” gained notoriety in the 19th century for its use of natural light. The genre had impacts on art movements such as the Barbizon School, the Hudson River School and Impressionism.

McTague will host a “Meet the Curator Coffee” from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on July 15 at the gallery where she will discuss the artists, paintings and how the works were chosen.

Exhibiting artists include: Britt Bair, Dana Goodfellow and Diane Weeks of Darien, Conn.; Helene Brier (deceased), Katrina Franzen, Missy Savard and Jane Sutherland of Fairfield, Conn.; Frank Bruckmann of New Haven, Conn.; Leslie Concannon and Rebecca F. Stock of New York City and Wilton, Conn.; Jarvis Wilcox of New York City, Easthampton, N.Y. and Southport, Conn.; Fran Henry Meehan of Southport, Conn.; Judith Orsatz Katz of Westport, Conn.; and David Allen Dunlop of Wilton, Conn.
