Stamford Man Charged With Theft Of Scooter

STAMFORD, Conn. — A 28-year-old Stamford man accused of taking a motor scooter early Friday morning was arrested by Stamford police. 

The scooter's owner told officers two men approached him and one pushed him while the other drove off on the scooter, police said. Officers found a man matching the description of the suspect nearby pushing the scooter, police said.

The owner identified the man, and the plate on the scooter matched the numbers the owner provided, police said.

Freddy Hicks was charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit second-degree robber, and third-degree larceny, police said. His bond was set at $15,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court Aug. 29.

Officers were unable to find the second man, police said.
