Police intervention was required after a Northern Westchester man allegedly threatened a woman with an assault rifle before forcibly removing her from an area home during a domestic dispute.

On Thursday, Aug. 2, troopers were dispatched to a Cortlandt home, where there was a report of a domestic dispute involving a weapon. Upon arrival, it was found that Cortlandt Manor resident Gary Carbone allegedly menaced his female victim with an AR-15 assault rifle before physically removing her from the home.

Police said that further investigation into the 28-year-old Carbone found that he was also in possession of an unregistered, loaded Ruger AR-556, which was also seized. Carbone was later taken into custody and arrested.

Carbone was charged with one count of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of menacing.

He was remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or bond. He is due in the Town of Cortlandt Court on Monday, Aug. 6 to answer the charges.
