Two Men Caught Siphoning Cooking Oil From Stop & Shop In Northern Westchester, Police Say

Two men took elaborate steps in an effort to steal cooking oil from the back of a Westchester food store before police intervened and arrested them.

Westchester County Police officers responded to Stop & Shop on North Bedford Road in Mount Kisco at approximately 3 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 6, where there was a report of two men siphoning cooking oil.

Police said that officers found the two men - Yonkers resident Federico Ferreira and Bronx resident Yocany Rojas - siphoning cooking oil from a large storage container behind the building. The men were in possession of a van, which was outfitted with hoses, two large storage containers and a generator. The vehicle was impounded following their arrests.

Ferreira, 33, and Rojas, 29, were each arrested and charged with petit larceny. They were each released on $100 bail and are scheduled to appear in Mount Kisco Justice Court this week, on Thursday, Dec. 13.
