Suspicious Men, Firebird Burnouts Top North Castle Police Blotter

Members of the North Castle Police Department received a report shortly before 8:45 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 1, of a suspicious car that had been sitting on Cox Avenue for more than an hour. When the caller approached the vehicle, she was told that the vehicle was disabled and he was waiting for assistance.

According to police, a pair of officers responded to the area and found two vehicles near the entrance of Lombardi Park in Armonk. One of the motorists - whose name has not been released - had his car impounded due to a suspended registration and was arrested for criminal possession of a forged instrument.

The driver has since been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date to answer the charge.

Other items on the North Castle Police Department blotter from Sept. 28 through Oct. 4 include:

• Officers received a report of a man walking on the shoulder of Route 120N wearing camouflage and potentially carrying a weapon. Police said that they advised the caller that archery deer season is open and acknowledged the man may have been carrying a bow, not a gun. An officer checked the area and all matters checked out.

• Police were dispatched to Crest Court at approximately 5 p.m. on Sept. 30, where there was a complaint of a Pontiac Firebird doing burnouts in the cul-de-sac. The car took off toward Route 22 before officers could arrive. No license plate was provided and a canvas of the area for the vehicle didn’t turn up the Firebird or its driver.

• That same day, a caller reported that while her mother’s vehicle was being placed onto a flatbed tow truck, the vehicle rolled of the back and struck another. Officers investigated and are following up their investigation.

• A group of juveniles attempted to kick open the door of a Whippoorwill Road East property on Saturday, Sept. 29. Officers responded to the home and found that the juveniles were gone and the area was secured.

• Police are investigating a suspicious man who was allegedly hiding in the bushes at Hillandale Avenue. Police were dispatched to Hillandale Avenue at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, where there was a report of a man in the area. The suspicious suspect was described as a 6-foot man wearing a plaid shirt and short. Upon arrival, officers said that the man was gone.
