This is a Class I Recall, which the USDA describes as "a health hazard situation where there is a reasonable probability that the use of the product will cause serious, adverse health consequences or death."

The recall is limited to particular batches of two P.F. Chang’s frozen entrées. Specifically,

  • 22-oz. plastic bagged meal packages of P.F. Chang's Home Menu Brand Signature Spicy Chicken, with a use-by date of June 8, 2017, and case code 5006616500; and
  • 22-oz. plastic bagged meal packages of P.F. Chang's Home Menu Brand Mongolian Style Beef, with a use-by date of June 17, 2017, and case code 5006617400.

The recalled products will also have the establishment number "EST. 233" or "EST. P-115" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

The problem was discovered on July 1, when a manufacturing employee saw metal fragments in the sauce formulation process. The metal fragments range in size between 2 and 9 millimeters in diameter, and they are curled, malleable and shiny.

There have been no confirmed reports of injuries from these products. Consumers who have products from the above batches should not consume them, and should throw them away or return them.

Consumers can call 800-252-0634 with questions about the recall.
