What started as 32 online community news sites formerly known as Main Street Connect in Westchester County on June 1, 2011 turns 5 years old today as Daily Voice, now a seven-county, 73-site system that continues to expand throughout the tristate area.

In 2011, following the success of Main Street Connect delivering hyper-local news in Fairfield County, what would become Daily Voice in Westchester was born, with 32 sites launched, dedicated to providing everything from local high school sports to police and government news in the community.

Daily Voice was founded in 2010 by Carll Tucker, the former editor and publisher of Trader Publicans in Cross River, serving communities in Connecticut. With the success of the Fairfield sites, the company was swiftly expanded into Westchester the following year. In 2015, sites were launched in New Jersey, Rockland and Dutchess Counties.

Since its expansion, Daily Voice has seen an average of more than 700,000 monthly visitors, with only Google, YouTube and Facebook having higher market penetration across the country. Tucker said that he hopes to double in size annually until Daily Voice is a national staple.

“Five years ago, we knew that the future of communications had to be digital, and we started experimenting and we’re delighted that Daily Voice is now the highest penetration news media markets in (the region),” he said. “We’re the largest news provider in seven counties and we’re growing across the United States.”
