ARMONK, N.Y. Hickory & Tweed Ski and Bike shop in Armonk was transformed into "Birder's Junction" for the day on Tuesday, changing its name to accommodate a movie shoot.
The independent film, "A Birders Guide to Everything," filmed scenes in the local shop for the movie, and Hickory & Tweed manager Bino Cummings said the whole experience was fun.
Theyve made everything really easy for us, Cummings said. Its actually a really cool story for the store to be able to tell in the future.
Cummings said the film crew arrived Monday and began setting up. The main store closed throughout the day Tuesday, but the bike shop remains open. The film crew is expected to wrap up by the end of the day Tuesday, and all should be restored to normal on Wednesday, Cummings said. The shoot remained low-key throughout the day and a North Castle Police patrol car sat parked outside the store.
Planning for the shoot began about a month ago when the store was approached by the film crew, according to Cummings.
Im not sure how they found the shop. But they came by and scouted out the area, and the whole things been really smooth, Cummings said.
According to IMDB.com, A Birders Guide to Everything stars Sir Ben Kingsley and Bryan Cranston. It's about a young birding fanatic named David Portnoy who believes that he made a monumental bird discovery.
The film is also scheduled to film in Chappaqua and Somers later this summer.
Cummings said he and his workers werent fazed by the actors on set Tuesday, but that it would be nice to meet Academy Award-winner Kingsley.
Meeting Ben Kingsley would be pretty cool. He is a knight and all, Cummings said.
