A “kick-off” meeting is planned for 7 p.m. Monday, March 20. It will take place at the Hergenhan Recreation Center, 40 Maple Ave., Armonk.
The current roadmap, aka comprehensive or development plan, was adopted more than 20 years ago.
It is a statement of a community’s goals and a guide for orderly growth and change, the town says.
It also “provides a rational basis for future planning and zoning decisions,” a post on the town's website said.
The Westchester County Planning Department prepared “planning base studies” and it didn’t cost the town anything.
North Castle, officials said, will use the studies to “form the foundation of the new plan.”
The plan includes information on land use, population, transportation, natural resources, recreation, open space, public facilities, infrastructure, commercial development, and residential development.
North Castle has also hired BFJ Planning, a consulting firm with offices in New York City, Connecticut, and New Jersey.
BJF provides professional expertise in planning, urban design, environmental analysis, real estate and transportation. It will help shape the new plan under the auspices of the town’s Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
Besides public meetings, part of the town’s outreach efforts includes its new “public engagement” website, North Castle Forward, or NCForward.

“The best way to tackle challenges that affect the community is with the community,” the town says.
By using NCForward, residents and other community stakeholders can “contribute from their own homes and on their own schedules,” the town says, adding that “input from many people provides a broader range of ideas, solutions, and participation.”
