SPCA Hoping To Clear The Shelter The SPCA has more dogs and cats than usual, but are hoping a one-day event can help their animals find forever homes. The SPCA is taking part in NBC's Clear the Shelters on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at its Briarcliff location at 590 North State Road. As part of the event, many of the animal's adoption fees will be waived.  All the same rules and criteria involved in approving an adopter/adoption will be in place. Hudson Valley Hot-Air Balloon Festival Returns To Dutchess The Hudson Valley will be full of hot air balloons this weekend.The Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its annual Hudson Valley Hot-Air Balloon Festival from Friday, July 7 to Sunday, July 9 with more than 80 launches between Friday and Sunday. The festival will be held at Barton Orchards at 63 Apple Tree Lane in Poughquag.
