Rain and thunderstorms will threaten parades, barbecues and fireworks displays across much of the eastern United States on July 4th, according to AccuWeather.

But Independence Day is expected to be mostly sunny in the Hudson Valley, however showers are expected sometime in the evening, with the timing of the first raindrops uncertain, but expected to be no earlier than 9 p.m.

Sunday should be a preview of the 4th with sunny skies expected and a high temperature in the low 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers could arrive Monday night as early as 9 p.m. in some parts of the area, especially west and south. Then showers and thunderstorms are expected after 11 p.m., possibly becoming heavy into the early morning hours before wrapping up by 3 a.m.

Monday will be a bit warmer, with a high around 85, and mostly sunny. There is a chance of showers after 9 p.m.
