Increased Fire Risk Warning Issued For Armonk

The humidity values of 15-25 percent, combined with “dry, fine fuels” and above-normal temperatures have led to the Weather Service advisory.

The service issues these warnings to local firefighters and forestry agencies.

The most serious of the warnings, a “red flag,” is usually issued when three criteria are met: relative humidity less than or equal to 25 percent; winds of 20 mph or more; and fuels such as branches and twigs that are dry.

Under these conditions, fire officials strongly advise against deliberate outdoor burning and the exercise of caution against accidental fires.
