The National Weather Service has released rainfall projections for the latest rainstorm that will sweep through the area.

The Lower Hudson Valley will get soaked with close to 2 inches of rainfall as the strong storm bringing heavy rain will hit the area Monday night and continue through Tuesday.

A Flood Watch has been issued by the National Weather Service for Westchester, Putnam and Rockland from 2 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Total rainfall of 1 1/2-plus inches, with locally higher amounts, will likely lead to areal and small stream flooding late Monday night into Tuesday. Some larger rivers may experience minor flooding as well.

Low clouds and rain will cause poor visibility for motorists, according to AccuWeather.com. Those planning on traveling should anticipate slow travel and delays on the ground and in the air.

Rain will move into the area after 10 p.m. Monday and could be heavy at times, with 3/4 of an inch of rainfall possible overnight.

Heavy rain and possibly a thunderstorm will be accompanied by patchy fog Tuesday with the high temperature in the upper-50s. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.

Rain will taper to showers Tuesday night before ending late in the evening.

Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high in the low-60s.

Yet another storm could bring heavy rain Thursday.
