The change of seasons will be marked by some volatile weather in the area Thursday through the end of the weekend when a potential start-of-spring snowstorm may arrive.
There will be a chance of showers Friday, followed by a sunny Saturday before the potential for major storm to start spring and the week on Sunday, the first day of spring, and into Monday.
Significant snow accumulation is possible, according to the National Weather Service. The snow could mix with rain, especially along the coast, for periods of time.
The storm, which is moving to the Northeast from the South, is likely to bring accumulating snow from the I-95 corridor to part of the Appalachians, with the heaviest snow across New England, according to AccuWeather.com.
Between 3 and 9 inches of accumulation by Monday morning is possible.
