The eye of Hurricane Matthew is projected to run parallel to the coast of northeastern Florida during the day on Friday, Georgia on Friday night and South Carolina and Saturday before heading south back toward the Bahamas, according to AccuWeather.com.

Matthew is hammering those states with driving rain and howling winds of up to 120 mph after being responsible for 120 fatalities in Haiti, scores of power outages in Florida and the cancellation of thousands of flights, including hundreds out of the three major New York City-area airports.

The Hudson Valley area has been spared from the storm's wrath but could see some showers on Saturday.

After a pleasant Friday with plenty of sun and a high temperature in the mid 70s, Saturday will bring increasing clouds with a chance of patchy fog before 9 a.m. That will be followed by a 50 percent chance of showers during the day and 40 percent chance at night. Saturday's high temperature will be around 70 degrees.

Sunday will gradually become sunny with a high in the upper 60s.

The outlook for Columbus Day calls for lots of sun with a high in the mid 60s.

While Matthew is barreling its way up the southeast coast, there's another storm that bears watching: Nicole. It is located several hundred miles south of Bermuda and was upgraded to Category 2 hurricane status Thursday. It is projected to rotate in a circular fashion the next few days with an uncertain future track.
