Postpartum Cow Saved After Getting Stuck In Mud In Hunterdon County (Photos) A cow who had just given birth was rescued from the mud in Hunterdon County on Saturday, May 11. At 5:15 p.m., the Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad said they were deployed after discovering the mama cow had gotten herself stuck in the mud.  Tewksbury First Aid and Rescue Squad Facebook The original crew called for additional personnel, and taller boots, to assist the cow, rescuers said. Elizabeth Man Convicted Of Shooting Newark Resident In Back of Head: Prosecutor A 20-year-old Elizabeth man was convicted on Wednesday, May 8, of fatally shooting a 25-year-old Newark man in 2022, authorities said. On Feb. 16, 2022, Mahdi Wright shot James Shaw. Jr. in the back of the head as he was standing on the curb talking with two people on the corner of Shephard Avenue and Maples Place, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens said. Wright was found guilty of murder in the first degree and various weapons offenses following a month-long trial. He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced in June.

Five Injured In Truck-Car Crash On Route 78: Njsp Five people were injured after a crash between a car and a tractor-trailer on Route 78 in Hunterdon County on the early morning of Friday, May 10, authorities said. At 3:42 a.m., a crash occurred between a Mercedes-Benz and a Peterbilt tractor trailer on Route 78 west in Bethlehem Township, Jeffrey Lebron, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police said. The driver of the Mercedes-Benz and four passengers sustained minor injuries and were transported to an area hospital, Lebron said. The crash remains under investigation, Lebron said.
