Now in its third year, the No Man Down Lacrosse Classic has collectively raised more than $125,000 for veterans, according to a statement from the district.
This year, the tournament will be held in support of Building for America’s Bravest, a Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation program, according to the district, which said that all money raised this year will go toward a custom home for a wounded Army corporal.
Set for Saturday, Nov. 6, the lacrosse tournament is to feature 50 boys and girls high school teams from across the region, according to the district, which said the games are likely to attract more than 1,500 spectators.
Andrew McClure, director of Marketing and Development at the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, called events like the No Man Down Lacrosse Classic the “lifeblood” of his organization.
“We’d be unable to carry out our mission without this remarkable level of support,” he said. “The proceeds from this event will enable us to move a little closer to welcoming Cpl. Chris Levi into the smart home that he badly needs and deserves. We’re very appreciative.”
Tom Grotta, of Byram Hills Youth Lacrosse, said he is proud of the tournament – which this year falls soon after the 15th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks – and the student volunteers who make it possible.
“Entering our third year, we could not be happier with the level of support we’ve received from the Byram Hills community and the greater lacrosse community,” he said. “We are proud to continue to support programs such as Building for America’s Bravest and the great work that they do for veterans.”
