Kids Learn Fundamentals Of Basketball At Armonk Camp

ARMONK, NY. – Kids were eager to learn basketballs skills at the Fundamentally Sound Basketball Camp in Armonk, which featured 60 boys and girls attending the first week of the two-week camp earlier this month

Held at the Church of St. Patrick's gymnasium in Armonk and led by Coach Marty Durkin and Coach Marshall Reiff, Fundamentally Sound Basketball Camp is designed to teach fundamentals of basketball, skill development from the ground up, athletic training and conditioning to enhance the athlete's overall basketball IQ.

Durkin graduated from Byram Hills High School in 1982. He was all-county in football, basketball and lacrosse. He was all state in basketball and was the first in school history to score 1,000 career points. He is a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. During his time at Southern Connecticut, he played football and earned a degree in physical education. Durkin has been working with kids for over 25 years. He is presently the junior varsity coach at Iona Prep in New Rochelle and owns his own company, Fundamentally Sound. Durkin teaches basketball, baseball and football.

Reiff was the former Mount Vernon High School Varsity basketball coach for 15 years and the Tuckahoe High School Varsity basketball coach for four years. He was awarded Coach of the Year 10 times and won two New York state championships with his basketball teams. He is presently the director of Junior Bobcats Tri-County Winter League in Armonk.
