HARRISON, N.Y. The Harrison Huskies made the most of their Senior Night by knocking off Class A powerhouse Byram Hills.
Harrison (6-10) held off the Bobcats and earned a 46-39 win. Co-captain Coby Lefkowitz is only a sophomore, but he knew how much the win meant to the seniors.
Just to get one for our seniors just feels great, Lefkowitz said. This is their last game ever and what a way to go out, for them to beat one of the best teams in the section on our home court.
Lefkowitz led the Huskies with 17 points and Nick Esposito added 13. Charlie Murphy scored 10 points to lead Byram Hills, which played without Jeff Lynch. Brian Skelly and Ryan Golden each added nine points for the Bobcats.
Byram Hills coach Ted Repa said that Lynchs absence showed in the Bobcats low point total. The coach was clear when asked if the loss could affect the team as it heads into the postseason.
I worry about this loss a lot, Repa said.
Harrison senior co-captain Michael Goldman, who finished with five points for the Huskies, is the only senior on the team besides Brian Lauro. Goldman said it was a thrill to earn the win on Senior Night but hopes his team is not finished yet.
Our goal is to win a playoff game and to see how far we can go, Goldman said. We only have two seniors this year. But definitely an exciting win and morale is up right now. So that was a big win.
