ARMONK, N.Y. – The Byram Hills High School boys’ basketball team hosts rival Horace Greeley High School on Monday at 6:15 p.m. for a league match-up.
The Bobcats defeated the Quakers in their first meeting on Jan. 18. Brian Skelly led the team with 19 points. Ryan Golden had 15 points and nine rebounds in that game, while Jeff Lynch added 15 points, five assists and five steals. Andrew Groll had a double-double for Byram Hills with 13 points and 15 rebounds. Greeley star Harrison Brown had 28 points.
Byram Hills is coming off back-to-back wins against Rye High School. The first was a 72-57 road win on Wednesday in which Lynch scored 27 points, while the second was a 79-56 home win on Friday in which Golden scored 22 points.
The trio of Lynch, Golden and Groll has led Byram Hills to the top portion of the Class A standings this season. But contributions from other players such as Skelly have rounded out the team and given Byram Hills some extra firepower. When Lynch has stayed healthy, in particular, the Bobcats have been tough to stop.
The Bobcats have quality wins over Briarcliff and Pleasantville high schools, as well as two wins against Class AA Fox Lane. Another win against Greeley would certainly help with playoff seeding at this point in the season.
The interesting matchup in this game will be Groll against Brown, who earned his points in the last meeting. If the Bobcats’ sophomore can keep Brown off the glass, then Byram Hills will have a solid chance to earn the win.
