Basketball Star Sean Kilpatrick Returns Home To Westchester, County Center

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Sean Kilpatrick is no stranger to the Westchester County Center basketball floor. As a White Plains High School standout, he graced the court several times, with the last time coming in a 2008 sectional finals loss to Mount Vernon High School.

But when Kilpatrick visited the County Center on Wednesday, it was to take on the NBA D-League’s Westchester Knicks with his Delaware 87ers.

Playing pro ball, the lights are brighter and the stakes are higher. But the 6-foot-4 swingman, who scored a game-high 28 points in an 87ers 116-108 win, compared it to a homecoming.

“It feels great just to have all my friends and family come to the game,” the 25-year-old Kilpatrick said. “They’re here to really support me.”

Kilpatrick led all scorers with 29 points, adding four rebounds and two assists.

At White Plains, the Yonkers-born Kilpatrick averaged 28.4 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 6 assists, finishing as the second-leading score in school history before moving on to become a First Team AP All-American at the University of Cincinnati.

“It’s just one of the step in my life,” he said, “that brought me to where I am today and made me more of a man.”

Kilpatrick is scoring 25.5 points per game for the 87ers and is ranked the number three D-League prospect by NBA.com as he looks to make the jump to the NBA. He has had previous stints with the Sixers, Bucks, Pelicans, and Timberwolves.

“My agent is talking to teams everyday,” Kilpatrick said. “We could be playing a game today and then tonight have to leave to go to another city.”

Kilpatrick and the 87ers will finish up a three-game string against the Knicks in Delaware on Saturday and back at the County Center on Jan. 2.
