"I like how it taught you to how to code and then you could do your own thing," said 10-year old-student Riley Tiberii.

Deputy Superintendent Florence O'Connor visited Crompond Elementary School to check out the scene.

Yorktown High School will hold coding hours throughout the week in the library. Students with or without experience are encouraged to check it out.

The global movement encourages computer programming to tens of millions of students in more than 180 countries. Nearly 200,000 Hour of Code events are, or will, take place during the week-long event.
