Voters throughout the county will vote on various school bond referendums, proposed infrastructure improvements in some districts, Board of Education candidates and other issues that affect local schools.

New Rochelle voters face an important vote, where a proposed $253.7 million school budget and approved $106.5 million in bonds will be on the ballot. In Bedford, the schools vote have been a popular source of speculation, as they became the only municipality seeking to override the allowed tax levy cap, meaning they will require 60 percent of the public vote to ratify the proposed $130 million budget.

The Ossining School District represents the largest budget-to-budget increase in the county, with a jump from $117.2 million to $125.2 million (6.84 percent). Districts in Croton-Harmon, Katonah-Lewishboro, Mamaroneck and Tuckahoe each saw decreases from last year’s spending plans.

Polling places will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17 in each district. Results from the vote are expected shortly thereafter.
