Seven National Merit Finalists Named From Byram Hills

ARMONK, N.Y. – Seven Byram Hills High School seniors have been named finalists in the 58th National Merit Scholarship Program.

Jonathan Bohrer, Jonathan Bricker, Jennifer Gold, Andrew Kim, Lance Mack, Connor O’Day and Brooke Robbins are seven of the 15,000 finalists from around the country.

The program honors students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies, according to the program. The students now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit scholarships that will be offered this spring.

About 1.5 million high school seniors in more than 22,000 high schools entered the 2013 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test as juniors.

To be named a finalist, a student must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, be endorsed and recommended by the high school principal, and earn SAT scores that confirm the student’s initial performance on the qualifying test, according to the program.
