Byram Hills Students See The World Through Google Cardboard

ARMONK, N.Y. -- The Great Wall of China, the Galapagos Islands and ancient Mayan ruins were among the 'field trips' taken by H.C. Crittenden Middle School and Byram Hills High School students in Armonk, as the schools tested Google Expeditions.

Using cardboard viewers with smartphones, students twisted in all directions to take panoramic tours led by teachers using the virtual-reality teaching app.

Expeditions are guided tours of places schools buses can't go. They are comprised of virtual reality panoramas and are led by a guide or teacher. Using a tablet, teachers can guide up to 50 students wearing virtual reality viewers. Teachers can guide their class and point out highlights while referring to editable notes.
