The ceremony was held at The Performing Arts Center at Purchase College.
Byram Hills had a lot to celebrate in 2014-2015, with its baseball team bringing home a state title and its debate team also having a banner year. Byram Hills's soccer team made the state semifinals.
Brian Schoenfeld, class salutatorian, noted the journey his classmates has been on the last 13 years.
"Sometimes the journey took unexpected turns," Schoenfeld said. "We didn't go to Ellis Island or get to whale watching."
Schoenfeld joked that the class missed out on celebrating three Halloweens during their time at Byram Hills due to a snowstorm, Superstorm Sandy and a pipe burst.
"We only got to celebrate it once," Schoenfeld lamented. "But this is what made our journey so interesting. A journey is always a learning experience. The path is up to us."
Valedictorian Elizabeth Kingsley said it was almost a shame to be leaving Byram Hills High School.
"This brings a lot of nostalgia and excitement," Kingsley said. "We are leaving with a great legacy and a wonderful sense of accomplishment."
Kinglsey took a selfie with her classmates and with the audience during her speech.
"We are the generation of change," Kingsley said. "We have the power to guide ourselves and the world on the right path. Thank you Byram Hills for preparing us for all of this."
Gov. Andrew Cuomo's daughter, Michaela Kennedy Cuomo was among the graduates, with her father in attendance during the ceremony.
