Students recently learned about prosthetic limbs and the role 3D printers can play in providing them when retired Col. Patty Collins, whose leg was amputated, demonstrated different legs – including one she uses in Paratriathlons. 

The visit was organized by the Engineering Club and e-NABLE, a network of volunteers who use 3D printers to create prosthetic hands. 

The club, moderated by science teacher Paul Beeken, already has printed a test hand and is now waiting to be assigned a patient.
