White Plains Offers City Living in the Suburbs

Buyers are out in force this spring — and most of them are looking for homes in perfect move-in condition. Ann Bernstein, a veteran Realtor with Houlihan Lawrence in White Plains, says 26 Eagle Court is such a house.

"It's a beautiful, gracious home," Bernstein says. "It's warm and inviting." And it's in White Plains, a town that offers a perfect blend of urban and suburban lifestyles, she says. There are tree-lined streets in friendly neighborhoods as well as a vibrant downtown with casual and fine dining and world-class shopping. There is plenty to do, and City Center is just one example, with 15 movie theaters as well as the White Plains Performing Arts Center. To top it off, Grand Central Station is just a 35-minute train ride away.

A two-story foyer with a balcony ringing the second-floor hallway provides a dramatic welcome for visitors. This center hall brick and clapboard Colonial was designed with an open floor plan. The first-floor rooms flow seamlessly into one another with no steps to limit accessibility. A large country kitchen with white cabinets and granite counters opens to the family room, which has a towering fireplace and cathedral ceilings. French doors open from the in-kitchen dining area to an over-sized deck.

Bernstein says the master bedroom suite is the perfect adult retreat, and she likes the fact that it's on the first floor. A tray ceiling in the bedroom enhances the spaciousness of the room, which connects to a large, marble spa bathroom.

A basement with walkout access to the quarter-acre yard is ready to be finished by the buyer, who might enjoy the convenience of a gym or home movie theater.

Bernstein is confident that 26 Eagle Court in White Plains will sell quickly, in part due to the effective marketing provided by Houlihan Lawrence's website. "I've been with them for 24 of the 27 years I've been in the real estate business," Bernstein says. She's a big fan of the company, saying that it provides her with all the tools and training she needs. "Buyers want to go where the sellers are — and vice versa," she says. "And Houlihan Lawrence has a very large share of the real estate market in our area."
