White Plains Hosts Talks On Home Energy Efficiency

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Discussions on how to make your home more energy efficient will be held on Wednesday, June 5, at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.

The discussions are sponsored by County Executive Robert Astorino and the New York League of Conservation Voters Education Fund.

“Building Blocks for Energy-Efficient Homes” will run 5:30-7:30 p.m. Homeownerscan learn about attic insulation, installing solar panels and costs to make your home more energy efficient.

The event is free, but advance registration is requested. Guests can register online. .

The event will include two panel discussions.

“Greening Your Home to Maximize Its Value” will be moderated by Judy Martin, a consultant with Green Homes Westchester. Panelists will include industry professionals who will inform the audience about the latest in energy efficiency and environmentally friendly design. 

Panelists will include: Leah Caro, real estate owner and broker of Bronxville-Ley Real Estate; Susan Anthony, an interior designer; Sean Murphy of Murphy Brothers, home builders; John Sullivan of Sullivan Architecture; Joe Cotter of National Resources, an energy and infrastructure redevelopment company; and Christina Griffin, principal of Christina A. Griffin PC, an architect.

“How Do You Get Started?” will answer what existing residential incentive/financing programs are availableto help pay for improvements and other programs that are under consideration. The discussion  will be moderated by Marcia Bystryn, president of NYLCVEF.

Panelists include: Tom Bregman, director of Energize, NY; David Gabrielson, executive director of Pace NOW; Anthony Marmo, an energy efficiency specialist for Clover Comfort; Toby Simpson, a Honeywell representative for Con Edison; and Jared Haines of Mercury Solar of Port Chester.

Attendees will also have a chance to talk to vendors from the industry, who will set up information booths in the back area outside the meeting rooms.
