Officers were called to the intersection of Verge and Parker Streets, where they found the man lying out on the pavement around 4 p.m. He died at the scene, police said.
The car driver remained at the scene.
Springfield police did not release the names of the deceased or the car driver. Officers are investigating the fatal crash.
