NEW CANAAN, Conn. Mary Kay Sachs, 86, a Wilton resident who is formerly of New Canaan and Stamford, died Oct. 21 at Norwalk Hospital.
Born April 29, 1925, in Powhatan, Ohio, she was a wise and loving wife and mother, an advocate for the poor, especially children, and a supporter of many Jesuit schools and ministries, both in the United States and abroad. She had a deep love of music and enjoyed sculpting and painting.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John P. Sachs; two sons, the Rev. John R. Sachs of Boston and Christopher H. Sachs of New Canaan; two daughters, Susan F. Sachs of San Francisco and Kathryn Sachs Conway; and five grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at St. Aloysius Church in New Canaan. Burial will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in New Canaan. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Holy Rosary Mission/Red Cloud Indian School, 100 Mission Drive, Pine Ridge, SD 57770. Donations may be made online at www.redcloudschool.org.
