Mary Cassidy, an associate broker with Bronxville-Ley Real Estate, has been appointed co-chair of professional standards for the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors, a four-county Realtor association. Effective Jan. 1, 2012 the Westchester Putnam Association of Realtors merged with the Rockland County Board of Realtors and the Orange County Association of Realtors to create the Hudson Gateway Association of Realtors. The new entity represents 9400 Realtors.
Cassidy was chair of professional standards for WPAR in 2011. The professional standards council is charged with overseeing arbitrations, mediations and code of ethics hearings. The Realtor code of ethics, established in 1915 and modified over the years to reflect changes in the real estate industry, is the body that governs how Realtors act with the public, their clients and with each other. Topics covered by the code of ethics include fiduciary duties to clients, representation of property, truth-in-advertising and fair housing.
