Several county and local seats will be up for grabs on Tuesday, following a harried - and sometimes dirty – run to the general election, where dozens of mayoral, town board, village board and legislative positions will be up for grabs.

The ballot is crowded in Mount Vernon, where City Councilman Richard Thomas, the democratic primary victor, Sen. Ruth Hassell-Thompson - running under the Working Families Party – and City Councilwoman Deborah Reynolds – the choice of the Conservative Party line – are all contending for mayor.

In Mamaroneck, Democrats seeking to unseat incumbent Mayor Norman Rosenblum and Deputy Mayor Louis Santaro, both Republicans, released a video showing the three-term mayor clashing with Democrats on the village Board of Trustees, including Ilissa Miller.

Meanwhile in New Rochelle, newcomer James O’Toole, running on the Independence Line, is challenging longtime democratic Mayor Noam Bramson.

In the races for county legislator, longtime representative Sheila Marcotte – first elected in 2010 – is being challenged in District 10 by Democrat Haina Just-Michael, best known for her role as president of the New Rochelle Public Library. In District 7, Legislator Catherine Parker is set to square off against Republican Susan Watson.

Other contested legislative districts include:

  • District 1: Derek Hartley (Democrat); incumbent John Testa (Republican, Conservative)
  • District 2; Francis Corcoran (Rep., Con.); Karen Schleimer (Dem., Independence)
  • District 3: Margaret Cunzio (Rep., Con.); John Diaconis (Dem., Ind., Working Families)
  • District 9: incumbent Catherine Borgia (Dem., Ind., WF); Kathleen Mamone (Rep., Con.)
  • District 14: Christine Peters (Dem.); incumbent Bernice Spreckman (Rep., Con.)
  • District 15: incumbent Gordon Burrows (Rep., Con.); Kathleen Thomas (Dem.)

Westchester voters can head to the polls beginning at 6 a.m. in most municipalities on Tuesday.
