State Department Releases Hillary Clinton Benghazi Emails

CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. -- The State Department on Friday, May 22, made public 296 emails sent by Hillary Clinton, a Chappaqua resident, around the time of the 2012 terrorist attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.

The emails show an attempt by Clinton aides to emphasize the then-Secretary of State's “stewardship” and “leadership” of American policy on Libya as much as a year before the Sept. 11, 2012, attack that killed four Americans, including Ambassador Christopher Stevens, The Wall Street Journal reported on its Washington Wire blog.

Other emails highlighted the increased threat from Islamic militants and rival militias, The Wall Street Journal reported.
