State Democrats Mull Next Step Amid Sheldon Silver's Charges

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- State Democrats are mulling over different options in an effort to potentially replace embattled Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver, according to nystateofpolitics.com.

Silver could be facing five counts of corruption and fraud, but he has yet to even be indicted on the charges. The Speaker has said he will delegate his power and responsibility, but has been very open about his intention to keep his position despite pressure from within his own party, nystateofpolitics.com reported. 

Should Silver be removed or step down from his position, Rochester-area Assemblyman Joe Morelle would become the interim speaker, nystateofpolitics.com said.
