North Castle Town Board Member Michael Schiliro To Run For Supervisor

Current Town Supervisor Howard Arden will run against Schiliro, re-running on the Republican ticket with longtime North Castle resident Barbara DiGiacinto.

Schiliro, along with town board member Stephen D’Angelo, have often opposed Arden’s decisions and support for several polarizing town topics, such as the Concerned Citizen of Armonk’s petition against CVS and early developments for a town dog park. Those topics, among others, have caused town board meeting arguments, splitting both the board and residents on several occasions. Democratic Committee Co-Chair John Diaconis said the Democrats have a strong slate for Schiliro to run on, with good candidates who will keep open mind. He added that they plan to make decisions based upon facts, as they covet an open and transparent government.

Co-Chair Barry Malvin said the Democratic Committee is fully united behind the entire slate, including the two unaffiliated candidates running with Schiliro, as well as  Linda Trummer-Napolitano for Town Justice. The Committee announced their endorsement of Linda a few weeks ago.

Michael Schiliro is currently serving his second term on the Town Board having worked with a total of three supervisors.  Reese Berman was supervisor when Schiliro was first elected, followed by Bill Weaver, and now Howard Arden.

José Berra has lived in North Castle for many years, says Diaconis, and  has been involved with the Armonk Outdoor Art Show. Berra was a tax lawyer with the United States Treasury Department's Office of Tax Policy.

Berra said that having watched the “dysfunctional behavior” of the Town Board over the last two years, he could make a contribution to helping the Town find its way back to healthy governance.

Barry Reiter is the current chairman of the North Castle Citizens Corps Council (NC4), which operated the emergency shelter at Hergenhan Recreation Center during Hurricane Sandy.  He is also the majority owner of a Health Care Provider with offices on Bedford Road in Armonk.
