New Yorkers gave Gov. Andrew Cuomo poor performance ratings and presumptive Democratic Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton extended her lead over Donald Trump in a poll released Thursday by Siena College.

Fifty-nine percent felt negative toward Cuomo’s job performance, just slightly better than last summer when 60 percent gave the governor a negative rating.

Cuomo fared even worse in some other ratings. Some of the key findings:

  • Making New York more business friendly: 53% negative, 41% positive
  • Handling of the recent legislative session: 58% negative, 29% positive
  • Balancing needs of upstate and downstate: 65% negative, 26% positive
  • Reducing corruption in state government: 71% negative, 23% positive
  • Improving the quality of education in New York: 69% negative, 27% positive

Clinton leads 54-31 percent in New York over Trump, the presumptive Republican Presidential nominee. Clinton held a 52-31 advantage in May. Independent voters prefer Clinton by a 43-35 margin.

New Yorkers gave Clinton a positive 50-47 edge in favorability, while 28 percent have a favorable rating of Trump, a New York City real estate developer.

The poll was conducted June 22-28 with calls to more than 800 registered voters. Click here to find more poll results.
