The unofficial results, which are from the Westchester County Board of Elections, give Mezzancello a 17-vote lead. Berra previously held a lead of just 16 votes.

In total, the results show Mezzancello with 1,758 votes (50 percent) to Berra's 1,741 (50 percent).

The tally changed because the results for one of the town's districts was updated, according to a report in All About Armonk.

The race's outcome will be determined by absentee ballots. According to the Board of Elections, North Castle has 153 uncounted absentee ballots, a number that greatly exceeds Mezzancello's current lead.

There is currently a countywide impoundment of ballots, according to Nardara Ford, an official with the Board of Elections. This action will slow down the process leading to the results being finalized.
