While chief rival U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders has narrowed the gap in April, Chappaqua’s Hillary Clinton continues to hold a double-digit lead among New York’s Democratic voters, according to the latest Siena College poll.

Who do you support in the Tuesday, April 19 Democratic presidential primary?

  • Hillary Clinton
    19%
  • Bernie Sanders
    81%

With the state presidential primary looming, the former New York state senator, first lady and secretary of state was pulling 52 percent to the Brooklyn-born Sanders’ 42 percent, the poll said.

In March, the senator from Vermont had 34 percent, compared to Clinton’s 55 percent.

Bedford estate owner Donald Trump was maintaining a huge lead, with the support of 50 percent of likely Republican voters, compared to 27 percent for Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and 17 percent for U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas, the poll found.

In March, Trump led among Republicans with 45 percent, followed by Kasich and Marco Rubio at 18 percent, and Cruz with 11 percent.

The poll found that Sanders has a slightly better favorability rating, 75-20 percent, among Democratic voters, than does Clinton, who had 73-25 percent.

Trump has a 58-38 favorability rating among Republican voters, compared to Kasich's 57-31. Cruz’s numbers were in the negative with 40-55 rating.

According to Siena pollster Steven Greenberg, the 74-year-old Sanders widened his lead among New York voters under 35 to 52 points, up from 17 points.

Clinton, 68, leads among voters who are over 55 by 22 points, although that’s down from a 39-point lead with older voters.

“The younger voters are feeling the ‘Bern’ but the question is will they come out and vote in large numbers, as older voters historically do?,” Greenberg asked.

Clinton is leading 60-31 percent among black voters, and 54-42 percent among Latinos. Sanders and Clinton are neck-and-neck with white voters.

Clinton is ahead by 18 points with women; Sanders has a tiny two-point lead with men.

Clinton is leading by 13 points in New York City and is ahead 19 points in the suburbs. Upstate voters gave Sanders a two-point edge.

Trump has a 19-point lead with women and a 27-point lead with men. He's ahead 34 points in New York City, 20 points in the suburbs, and 23 points upstate.

Clinton has lived in Chappaqua since 1999.

Trump, who owns an estate in Bedford, also owns Trump National Golf Club Hudson Valley in Stormville and Trump National Westchester in Briarcliff Manor. The Trump name also adorns Trump Tower At City Center in White Plains, Trump Plaza in New Rochelle, Trump Park Residences in Yorktown and the Donald J. Trump State Park on the Westchester/Putnam border.
