After stealing a lunch truck on Saturday night, a White Plains man led police on a 40 mph chase that ended when Stamford police threw spike strips on High Ridge Road, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Police told the Stamford Advocate they were first alerted to trouble with the suspect, Michael Pavarini, 24, when they received a call about a man who was throwing trash around the High Ridge Shell. Minutes later, Pavarini stole the lunch truck that was left running, after finding out the owner had called police, said the Stamford Advocate.
Pavarini, who is considered mentally troubled, was spotted by police, and a chase that never reached above 40 mph went on for several miles, the Stamford Advocate reported. He was charged with criminal mischief, second-degree larceny, driving the wrong way on a one-way street and driving while under suspension. His bond was set at $2,500. Unable to afford the bail, Pavarini flooded out four jail cells, added the Stamford Advocate.
