A highly successful career television actor/director from Westchester was sentenced on Tuesday on child pornography charges.

Jason Alexander, 52, of Dobbs Ferry received 10 years probation after pleading guilty on Jan. 19, 2016 to one count of promoting a sexual performance by a child (a class D felony), one count of possessing an obscene sexual performance by a child (a Class E felony) and for possessing and file-sharing illegal and obscene performances of sexual conduct by children less than 17 years of age, Acting Westchester County District Attorney James A. McCarty said.

Alexander must also register as a sex offender with the New York State Sex Offender Registry.

The son of actress Jane Alexander, Alexander, known as "Jace," has directed "Law & Order," "The Practice" and other TV shows and was second vice president of the Directors Guild of America.

An investigator from the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office downloaded child pornography from an IP (internet protocol) address in Westchester on July 24.

The District Attorney’s Office began its investigation and following a subpoena, it was determined that the IP address was assigned to Alexander's Dobbs Ferry home, McCarty said.

A search warrant was then executed at Alexander's Bellair Drive home.

A forensic examination of computers and external hard drives removed from the location revealed digital files of children who are less than 16 years of age engaged in child pornography, McCarty said.

Assistant District Attorney Laura Forbes of the High Technology Crime Bureau prosecuted the case.
