Two men are behind bars after being arrested in connection with an incident Sunday in which a victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound after an apparent robbery in the parking lot of a supermarket in the Hudson Valley.
At about 2:35 p.m., a good Samaritan flagged down a trooper on Route 82 and reported a male suffering from a gunshot wound in the Acme parking lot in East Fishkill. The trooper rendered medical aid and provided suspect information to surrounding law enforcement.
The two suspects were then located nearby fleeing in a 2007 Honda CRV, and were stopped by a Dutchess County Sherriff’s Office Deputy. A large quantity of marijuana and a Springfield .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun were recovered.
Devin B Byers, 30, of Youngstown, Ohio, was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, both Class B felonies, as well as second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class C felony, and criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree, a Class D felony.
Sean T. Peterson, 28, of Beacon, was charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony.
The victim who suffered a single gunshot wound to the leg was transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital in stable condition.
Byers and Peterson were arraigned before the town of East Fishkill Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond.
