On President’s Day, police were dispatched to Old Orchard Street, where a caller reported a suspicious male wearing a leather jacket with a red “cape” with studs. Police intervened at the scene, conducted a canvass of the area, but the suspicious suspect was not brought into custody.

Earlier that day, a Half Mile Road resident alerted police that someone had illegally dumped garbage on his lawn. According to police, the resident told officers that he repeatedly has been finding bags of garbage dumped on his property after he had already taken his trash out. The homeowner had cleaned the area by the time police arrived, but an investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Other items on the North Castle Police blotter include:

  • On Tuesday, Feb. 21, an aviation unit with Westchester County police alerted New Castle patrol officers that three sports cars were traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Route 22 near King St. Police were able to track down two of the three drivers and issued summonses.
  • Earlier that day, police launched an investigation after a Mianus River Road resident returned home from vacation and found that his Mercedes, which had been parked in the driveway, was gone. Officers have spoken with the homeowner and are investigating. Police are also investigating an incident on East Middle Patent Road, where a homeowner reported that her vehicle was parked unlocked in her driveway overnight, and someone had rummaged through and taken undisclosed items.
