The crash occurred in the area of Mile Post Marker 5.0. Police were dispatched to the site of the crash at approximately 8:30 p.m., according to officials.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a disabled vehicle had stopped in the middle lane of the southbound side of the roadway, and traffic had slowed down to avoid striking the immobilized vehicle, police report.

A black four-door sedan failed to observe that traffic had slowed down and subsequently struck the rear of a 2002 Honda, operated by Matthew Dusablon, 22, of the Bronx; the vehicle Dusablon was operating then struck the rear of a 2008 Caravan, operated by Geraldine M. O’Grady, 45, of Yonkers, according to officials.

Before coming to rest, Dusablon’s vehicle also struck a 2009 BMW, operated by Sanjiv Lakha, 22, of Queens, police report.

The black four-door sedan fled the scene prior to police arrival, according to officials.

Dusablon’s trunk reportedly contained the swimming pool chemicals chlorine and hydrochloric acid.

The pool chemicals had spilled on the roadway as a result of the collision.

The Fairview Fire Department declared the crash scene a hazmat situation, subsequently closing the roadway for the safety of all motorists and first responders, according to officials.

Dusablon and his passenger were evaluated by EMS at the scene and did not seek further medical treatment.

In the interest of public safety, the parkway remained closed for several hours while the Westchester County Hazardous Materials Response Team cleaned the chemical spill.

At this time, none of the motorists involved in the crash have been issued traffic tickets, police report.

State police were assisted by the Westchester County Hazardous Materials Response Team, the Greenburgh Police Department and Fairview Fire Department.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has further details that can lead police to the operator of the black sedan, is asked to contact the State Police in Hawthorne by calling 914-769-2600.
