North Castle Police: Armonk Woman Assaulted

ARMONK, N.Y. – The North Castle Police Department responded to an assault incident early Saturday morning that resulted in an Armonk woman being taken to the hospital. Police say they received a call at a residence on Cliff Lane around 12:45 a.m. from a woman who said she was choked by her landlord. EMS transferred the woman to Northern Westchester Hospital to be treated for her injuries. The male suspect fled the scene in a black Lexus before police arrived and as of Monday afternoon no arrest had been made.  Police say the suspect is an Eastchester resident in his mid-forties.

DWI Arrest:  New York State Police arrested a New Jersey man on Interstate 684 in North Castle on Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated. Denis Leka, 46 of Paterson, was arrested following a traffic stop on the interstate after he failed multiple sobriety tests, police said.  His blood-alcohol content was 0.10 percent. Leka is scheduled to appear in the North Castle Town Court on August 7. 

Harassing Phone Calls:  An employee at the La Quinta Inn on Business Park Drive in Armonk reported that on July 24 she received multiple harassing phone calls from Con Edison union workers in regards to the replacement workers hired by Con Ed who were staying at the hotel, North Castle Police said. The employee reported that the calls were not threatening, but that profane language was used in regards to the hotel renting out rooms to the replacement workers while the union workers were locked out.  Police say that the hotel employee did not want to pursue any criminal charges. 

Bear Cub Sighting:  North Castle Police say that a resident on Windmill Road in Armonk reported seeing a black bear cub around 11 a.m. on July 23.  Police say they were unable to locate the animal which was gone on arrival.
